Our domain registration service is available to anyone who wants to register
their own domain.
What is a domain name?
A domain name is a unique name you can use for your own website or email
address eg. yourdomain.co.uk
Domains can be registered, on your behalf, by Aquatania Limited and
domain registrations apply for 2 years at a time, after which they must be renewed if you wish to keep them. We will send
you a renewal invoice approximately 60 days prior to the renewal date. If you do not pay this on time then you may lose your
domain name.
Domains registrations and renewals cost £50 + VAT for 2 years and include
DNS hosting.
If you only want the domain registered without the DNS service then the
charges are £20 + VAT for 2 years.
What is DNS hosting?
If you want to use your domain name for your web site or for email services
then you will need DNS hosting. Each computer connected to the Internet has a unique number or IP address. The purpose of
DNS (Domain Name System) is to turn your domain name into one of these unique numbers. For example, let's say you have registered
the domain name mydomain.co.uk and you want to host a web site - www.mydomain.co.uk, then the DNS service will translate the address www.mydomain.co.uk into the web servers unique number. This number is completely invisible
to the visitor to your web site and the domain name is, after all, easier to remember than lots of IP addresses.
